Believe ~ Follow ~ Serve...

A healthy disciple of Christ will have each of these three at work in their lives.  It all starts with the requirement to believe.  Romans 10:9 says “…if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  An active faith that believes in Jesus and trusts in God is required for every disciple of Christ.  Faith (believing) is the foundation on which all else is built.

Once we believe we are not done.  The scriptures say in James 2:19 “ even the demons believe - and tremble!”  Once we believe, we are then required to follow the Lord.  “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.’”  Matthew 16:24.  In following Christ we learn His ways and apply them to our lives, we seek His will and yield our own will to His.

Finally, to be fulfilled as a Christian we must serve.  Jesus is our model, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45  What an honor it is to be able to participate in God’s purposes, by serving Him.  A well-balance, healthy Christian will have all three of these elements working in their lives.
